What Is Stress Doing To Us?

Stress relief comes through action.  In order for you to feel better, less anxious, more in control, healthier and more energized, you must first focus on something good.  Sounds easy right?  Yet 75% of all doctor visits are for stress-related conditions.  The reported number of depression and anxiety cases is increasing at staggering rates and there is a global sense of stress regarding our economy, war and what’s to come.

There are 3 main causes of stress:

  • Uncertainty.  Not know what to expect, what to do, or how to do it
  • Feeling Overwhelmed.  Most people focus on the physical causes of stress.  Emotional causes (anger, anxiety, fear, etc.) are just as common and often more serious
  • Anticipation.  Positive or negative.  The anticipation of something good happening (new job, wedding, having a baby, holidays) can be as stressful as the anticipation of something bad happening (loss of any kind, illness, etc.).

How do you know if you are stressed?  There are 3 symptoms:

  1. Feeling anxious (can’t sit still, tension, tightness in your chest, increase or decrease in appetite).
  2. Tiredness and fatigue
  3. Inability to concentrate

Natural Smoothies are an important part of the Health & Wellness System...here's one of the recipe's from the program.  Try it today!

1/2 cup of fresh blueberries

6 to 8 medium-sized strawberries

1 sliced ripe banana

1/2 cup of crushed ice

1/2 cup sparkling water

Slice the strawberries into the blender.  Add blueberries, banana, ice and sparkling water (flavored is best).  Blend ingredients for about 1 minute.  Pour your smoothie into your favorite glass and enjoy.

Makes between 2 to 4 cups.

Food Facts:

Strawberries improve memory, reproductive health, and speed recovery from pregnancy and childbirth.

Blueberries are energy producing foods that contain anti-oxidants...they also improve circulation.

Bananas are filled with potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Tryptophan and beta-carotene.  They boost energy levels, help the body to heal and reduce feelings of depression.  Tryptophan is a mood lifting amino acid that helps your brain absorb more serotonin. (Low levels of serotonin are linked to depression)
